24/7 Pro-Active Monitoring Service Now
Available from Inline Computer Support Inc.
It 's about pro-acting instead of re-acting.
Typically the two ways we learn about a client's computer problem;
the client calls us when there system malfunctions or we may catch
issues while performing some sort of scheduled maintenance on their
system. From experience, we have noticed that many issues first
appear as minor errors that do not stop the system from working,
consequently they go unnoticed and fester. These issues build up
over hours, days or weeks until they overload/exhaust the system and
become a critical problem. Once it becomes critical and part of the
client's system stops working, then we get the call. Perhaps, their
email stops flowing, the backup stops working or the whole server
crashes just to name a few. However, if caught early and acted on
soon enough, the problems can be lessened and sometimes, avoided
altogether. This is the purpose of using a pro-active monitoring
solution.
Pro-Active Monitoring: What is it and what will it do?
Our Pro-Active Monitoring Service uses small, unobtrusive software
agents installed on your servers to gather their health information
and send it to the monitoring console at our office. This data is
stored in a SQL database on our system and compared against
threshold settings. These settings alert us whenever the system
exceeds a preset limit, or errors are recorded. For example the
system may alert us when server disk space drops below 10% free, we
would then need to free up some space to avoid a crash or file
corruption caused by a disk full error. Another example might be a
log warning that one of the server's software routines is failing,
stopping incoming email. Without this Pro-Active warning it may be
hours or even a day before a client realizes that lack of any recent
emails is due to a problem and they should call us. Our Pro-Active
Monitoring System can also trend the data to provide reports on how
your server/network has been performing over a period of time and
where its weaknesses are. This will provide you with information on
where bottlenecks in your systems are that slow down your overall
productivity.
Its just as important who is monitoring you as what they
are using.
At Inline we spent 4 months comparing various monitoring systems
to find the very best. PAM was our result and it has been crucial in
flagging problems with clients servers before the problem got out of
hand. As good as our PAM system is, our monitoring service would not
be heads above the competition if it wasn't for the quality of staff
that is watching and calibrating our monitor system. Many companies
have jumped on the monitoring band wagon and you may see various
rates out there but what you have to ask is: How good is the company
who's watching the monitor and will they recognize the severity of a
problem and what to do about it.
Here is a partial list on what our Pro-Active
Monitoring will accomplish:
Alert on any error or warning level entries from the servers event
logs and filter out unimportant ones.
Monitor the tape backups to catch device, software or user errors
and prevent a dangerous lapse in completed backup jobs. Your backup
is so important!
Monitor drive space usage and alert when there is less than 10% free
space.
Monitor certain services and required applications, such as a
anti-virus, DHCP, DNS and alert if they stop running.
Examine the anti-virus engine on the server, and alert if the
dictionaries have stopped updating.
Built-in knowledge base providing solutions from previous
occurrences of a problem, resulting in a faster resolution.
On certain alerts, we will run scripts to automatically fix certain
problems such as bad mail queues filling-up or services stopping.
Some free optional features that we can provide:
Free access to monitoring your own system from any web browser,
viewing your system's health and past history
We can alert you via email, if you would like a copy of the alerts
as they happen.
Other Optional functions: (Additional Charges)
Monitor custom software and their logs files
